Linda from Penny Henny Hatching came to drop off our new friends.

She brought us two chicks that had hatched that morning and 15 eggs in an incubator waiting to hatch!  She explained to us that we have to be very gentle and quiet when holding the chicks so that we don’t hurt or scare them.  She also told us the eggs need to stay in the incubator, so that they stay warm until the they are ready to hatch.  We were so excited, we couldn’t wait to hold the baby chicks!

We invited 4 of our chicks to join us for Group Time!  We talked about the life cycle of a chicken and learnt that it takes about 21 days for a chick to hatch.  We loved observing the chicks scratch, peck, hop, flap their wings, and grow.
