May 2011 - DEECD grants approval of our Kinder Program application.

Our Kinder program is run in the preschool room accommodating 20 children from 3 ½ years to 6 years.

Children in this room including those under 4 all benefit from the daily Kinder program.

February 2011 - Anne Sgro Children's Centre employs a Bachelor of Education Early Childhood Educator.

The Kindergarten Teacher runs a Kinder Program in our Preschool Room - Teddy & Friends - Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am to 1.45pm. Centre lodges Kinder Program application for approval with Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD).

May 2010 - New Playground Launch Party.

The Centre officially opened the completed playgrounds on 7th May, 2010. Committee of Management hosted a party for all parents and their children, and all staff. Playground opening was officiated by Councillor Mr. Toby Archer, North-East Ward and Ms. Anne McGregor from Children's Services, Moreland City Council.

May 2009 - Acquisition of next door property

Moreland City Council-Property Services, confirmed they purchased the property next door to the Centre. Council's future scope for the development of this property is to extend the Children's Service to include a stand alone Kindergarten for 4 year olds.

April 2010 - Our playground upgrades have commenced.

These works are anticipated to take approx: 5 weeks to complete. The Centre is buzzing with landscapers and their landscaping equipment. Our children are enthusitically watching with curiosty as they see their new play spaces evolve. Please see our new playground designs - view here >>


November 2009 - Centre was awarded a Community Partnership Grant from Moreland City Council.

Our Centre applied for a grant to assist us in redesigning and upgrading both our main and babies' playgrounds. Planning for this project commenced late in 2007. The cost of this project is in the vicinity of $70,000. Moreland City Council is contributing $30,000 towards this project.

Latest News. November 2009 - Accreditation Review.

The Centre underwent an Accreditation Review of our policies and practices by the National Accreditation Council of Australia, Canberra, ACT. Our Centre is happy to report that we received a "High Quality" rating in all 7 Principals covered by Accreditation.

January 2009 - Centre underwent transition over to the new Child Care Management System (CCMS) for Long Day Care Services.

This is a national child care system that will bring all approved child care services on line. Services will report your child care data to the Dept. of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) via the internet to allow calculation and payment of Child Care Benefit (CCB) fee reductions.
